Celebrating Failure

1) For this class, I have failed to submit a number of assignments and I have failed to leave comments of a number of occasions.  This has affected my grade in a way greater than I had calculated although I believe I will still end up with a B+.  I am in the Innovation Academy and I have been in school since January of last year without any breaks, and I am continuing in the spring.  I also work every day during the week. I do not intend for these to be excused, just reasoning for why I feel burnt out this semester. I am also taking Beginning Japanese 1 for my language credit and I have been focusing on that class more so than this one.  I have gotten cocky with that class at the end of this semester as well and I did not study for the last exam as much as I should have because I felt confident I knew the material.

2) I have learned that I need to balance my self academically by balancing out the rest of my life.  I have learned that even if I think I know what I am doing, I should recognize when I have or have not put in the work to really think that way or not.  I have also learned my limits for college thus far. I should really give myself some time to breathe  going forward and not burn myself out.

3) Failure is something that every one is going to experience in college and in life.  Failure with relationships, friendships, classes, tests, assignments, and whatever else you could imagine.  Failure is where an individual can grow the most. If you are going along in life succeeding in everything you do, you won't have the need to do anything in any other way. If you are in this situation, you may grow, but not in substantial and sustainable ways.  Failing allows one to reflect upon their actions and leaves room for improvement.

  1. Tommy, I am also in the Innovation Academy and have being going constantly since January as well. I can completely relate to that burnt out feeling, but that is great that you self reflected and realized that you needed to find a balance and take a breather. Though mistakes with school work and tests can be upsetting, you took a lesson out of it, which is very rewarding.
