Know Thyself

1.
Creativity – I value my creativity probably most overall. I have been an artist my entire life and I paint with oils many weekends. I enjoy looking at situations or problems and finding new ways to solve them. Throughout the past five or so years of my life I have been continuously updating and dreaming the life I want to live later on and I believe I have the creative competency to put those dreams into effect.

· Open Mind About my “People” – I am American, which can mean a lot of things. Americans come in all shapes and sizes with all different kinds of physical features that make them unique. I am quarter Filipino and white, whatever that means. I see all humans as one peoples and the world as our home. Many people do not have this view. Labels separate us into ethnicity, or race, and divide us into peoples. This is not all negative, as there have been beautiful cultures created because of this. For the purposes of my NGO I believe that a world view that embodies humanist thought is required to get things done on a global scale and help those who are different than myself that may be in need.

· I can read peoples eyes. I may be helping people who do not speak English, and although I do intend to learn Arabic, I may not be fluent in every dialect and not every refugee speaks Arabic. Reading people’s eyes helps me communicate non verbally. I am learning Japanese right now and communicating and reading people’s emotions this way helps a lot to know what people need and how they may feel.

· I am an introvert which allows me to listen and observe what is going on around me to better understand the people I am associating with.

· I am emotionally intelligent about myself. I meditate and look inward when I need to relax. Knowing my emotions has allowed me to get people to trust me a lot easier.

Kian mentioned how I dream out different scenarios about my life. He also spoke about my pragmatism and my ability of connecting with others.

Hyla talked about my empathy towards others and how I learn from all my good experiences.

Garrett talked about my world view and my tendency to quietly observe the situation that is unfolding.

Nick spoke on how I watch others analytically and catch what others do. He said that it leads to my creative thoughts.  He said that my self interest is of no particular group and that I have the ability to sift through many different perspectives almost instantly.

Ash just talked about my creative tendencies.

3.

I seem to be rather transparent with those I choose to surround myself with. I consider it a privilege that I am from Gainesville and have the people I have always been around available for me to interview.  I would only revise my statement about my open mind about people. I think that saying I have a different world view is just as effective and probably more politically correct. Otherwise I would just expand upon my previous statements.
