14A - Halfway Reflection

1.

The first couple weeks of this course I had been leaving these assignments for Friday to complete. Once we started to interview people each week, I found it highly beneficial to start contacting people before Monday, as many people have busy work schedules. I have developed a work schedule for this class, getting as much of each assignment done by Wednesday in order to have a stress free Friday night.

2. For the third week of assignments I had thought I submitted both links for both assignments however I found out a couple weeks ago that I had not. This brought my grade down by 7 points and I went from an A to a B. I was pretty angry because I did all of the work for the assignment on time and the T.A. is super impersonal about grades however I want to get an A for this course because I do not see any reason not to. Although it was just a small mistake on my part, I just need to trudge through and not fall off the boat.

Tips:

· Look ahead and plan ahead according to the assignment.

· Try and get ahead and shoot to have everything done by Thursday instead of Friday.

· Provide yourself with some sort of incentive to get assignments done, whether that be holding off on your glass of wine until you’re done or not being able to go on your phone until everything is complete.

  1. Tommy, the first couple weeks in this class I also struggled with procrastination. Then big assignments like interviews enabled me to realized I had to start blocking out time and organizing myself early. One thing I wrote about in my post was that I started using a planner, which actually helped me do assignments on time and not get overwhelmed. I like your tip of an award system, except mine would include Starbucks:) Good Job.

  2. Hi Tommy, I like your halfway reflection. I noticed you were good with social media and technology when I first saw your blog. I was nervous the first couple of weeks of class that I was going to have a hard time setting up the blog and submitting assignments. I missed my first cupcake because I didn’t realize the time was noon instead of midnight. I am always amazed at the learning curve. I try to get it moving as early as I can so I can stay in front of my assignments so I don’t get as stressed out.

  3. Hello Tommy, I too had problems towards the beginning of the course and missed out on some points that I shouldn't have. Besides just doing things early, I feel that it will be beneficial for you to get a planner. Planners are a life saver. I recommend a physical one but a digital one will do just fine if you prefer. Planners help you really get a grasp of what is going on in your life and helps you plan accordingly instead of just doing everything early. It has definitely helped me very much.
